Northwater worked on a team led by Water Resources Solutions to produce a detailed watershed based plan for Spring Creek in Sedgwick County, Kansas near Wichita. The project was funded by the City of Derby and Sedgwick County.
Northwater developed a custom watershed model (SWAMM) to characterize pollutant loading and runoff for the watershed and applied the model to identify over 50 site-specific implementation projects to reduce pollutant loading and flooding.
A critical area analysis was also performed using GIS to identify areas in the watershed where project implementation would achieve the greatest flooding and water quality benefits for the watershed; this analysis was applied to prioritize project locations. Northwater also conducted a watershed characterization, produced custom GIS layers, prepared a water quality monitoring plan and conducted training on the custom watershed model.
