Dano Water System, Grand Goâve, Haiti

Project Description

Northwater provided engineering and hydrogeological services over a two-year period to study the drying Magandou Spring and find/develop a new water supply solution for the 15,000 residents that rely on the Dano water system. Northwater performed several hydrogeological and engineering studies and then designed and supervised a water well drilling program.

The project was considered very successful as the causes of the drying spring were better understood which redirected resources to securing a more resilient water source.  A groundwater exploration program with geophysics and geological mapping resulted in a single deep well (170 meters depth) that yielded 46 cubic meters/hour (200 gallons/minute) of very good quality water.  The Dano water demand is now achieved with a single well rather than two or three wells as originally considered based on the nature of low-yielding wells in the area.

Northwater International fully delivered on the Terms of Reference for a hydrogeological technical appraisal of our project in Haiti. The quality of the report and analysis is highly appreciated.
