Description: Providing project oversight and QA/QC role for the design and construction of a community water system for a rural village of 4,000 people. Project includes capturing a mountain spring and constructing a 12,000-foot pipeline to convey water to the population center. Work in the village includes a 22,000-foot distribution network with private connections and public water access. Project is unique in that it incorporates an intensive community management training developed by Haiti Outreach. The successful training program empowers the community water committee to establish rules, manage the system, collect revenues and maintain a sustainable source of water in a transparent manner. The system promotes sustainability for the village so that it does not rely on continuing outside aid.
